The Utah Jazz may want to work on a different strategy when they close out a season-high five-game road trip against the league's weakest team.

Utah will try to play a complete game and defeat the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday for only the second time in eight meetings.

The Jazz (19-8) lost 101-89 to Charlotte on Friday, as they reduced a 20-point halftime deficit to four, but got no closer.

``I was disappointed with the way we started the game. They did a terrific job of just waxing us,'' Utah coach Jerry Sloan said.

It was the second consecutive game Utah fell behind by a wide margin. The team erased a 21-point fourth-quarter deficit to top Atlanta 112-106 Wednesday. That also was the second time the Jazz overcame a 21-point second-half margin in a month, rallying to beat Sacramento 110-101 on Nov. 22.

``We dug another hole and couldn't come out of it,'' Jazz guard Deron Williams said Friday. ``I don't know what it is. I have no clue. We've got to stop it.''

The Jazz have alternated wins and losses over the past six games, and has split its last 14 games after a surprising 12-1 run to open the season.

Still, Utah still remains in first place in the Northwest Division, 3 1/2 games ahead of Denver.

Carlos Boozer, who leads the Jazz with career-highs 21.8 points and 11.9 rebounds, had 22 points and 14 boards in Friday's loss. The former Duke star has been a key to Utah's offense this season, averaging 23.9 points in its victories, but just 16.6 in the losses.

He had a team-high 19 points and nine rebounds in a 90-84 loss to Memphis on March 16.

A win over Memphis (6-21) would give the Jazz a 3-2 record to close the trip and end a three-game skid at FedEx Forum, where the Jazz have only won twice in nine visits.

The Grizzlies lost 100-97 in overtime to New Orleans on Friday for their eighth defeat in nine games.

Pau Gasol, the team's leading scorer last season with a 20.4 average, had 28 points in the loss. The center has seen his minutes limited as he tries to get back in game shape after missing the first 22 games this season with a broken foot suffered while representing Spain at the world championships over the summer.

``I can't play over a certain amount of minutes, and my time was up,'' said Gasol, who's averaged 22.7 points per game in his last six outings against Utah.

Memphis drained seven 3-pointers in the third, breaking the previous mark of six in a quarter done three times, the last against Houston on Dec. 3, 2005.
