SEATTLE, Oct. 20 (Ticker) -- Zach Randolph made sure the Portland Trail
Blazers ended their slide.
Randolph scored 16 of his 22 points before halftime and rookie
Brandon Roy added 19 as the Trail Blazers picked up their first
win of the preseason with a 103-95 victory over the Seattle
SuperSonics.
A 6-9 forward, Randolph shot 9-of-15 from the floor and grabbed
five rebounds for Portland (1-3), which shot 62 percent
(36-of-58) and scored 40 points in the paint.
In the fourth quarter, Randolph drained a jumper and Roy scored
on a layup with just over four minutes remaining to help build
an 11-point bulge. Roy, who was taken sixth overall in June,
sank 11-of-12 free throws.
Juan Dixon scored 17 points and rookie Ime Udoka chipped in 16
for the Trail Blazers, who forced 20 turnovers.
Sharpshooter Ray Allen scored 16 points and Luke Ridnour added
13 and six assists for Seattle, which shot 46 percent (36-of-77)
and scored 19 points on second-chance baskets.
