New Orleans (35-37) at Detroit (59-14) 7:30 pm EDT
AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- The Detroit Pistons look to
record the second 60-win season in franchise history when they
face the New Orleans Hornets on Tuesday.
The Pistons' only 60-win campaign came in 1988-89 when they went
63-19 en route to the first NBA championship in franchise
history.
Although Detroit has already clinched the best record in the
Eastern Conference, it still is fighting for the best record in
the league. The Pistons own a two-game lead over San Antonio
(57-16), which won Game 7 of the 2005 Finals against Detroit at
home.
The Pistons are coming off of a 109-103 come-from-behind home
victory over Pacific Division-leading Phoenix on Sunday.
Chauncey Billups led the rally with 35 points.
The Hornets have gotten back into the Western Conference playoff
picture, trailing Sacramento (38-36) by two games for the
eighth and final postseason spot. They won their last three
games following a stretch in which they lost 12 of 13 contests.
Chris Paul, who is likely going to win this season's Rookie of
the Year Award, recorded his first triple-double with 24 points,
12 rebounds and 12 assists in the Hornets' 120-113
double-overtime triumph at Toronto on Sunday.
