Sacramento (36-36) at Golden State (30-40) 10:30 pm EST
OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- The Sacramento Kings continue
their quest for their eighth straight trip to the playoffs Friday
when they meet the Golden State Warriors, who have the longest
postseason dought in the NBA.
The Kings enter the contest against their Pacific Division
rivals with a 1 1/2-game lead over Utah for the eighth and final
playoff spot in the Western Conference standings.
Sacramento also is just 1 1/2 games behind the Los Angeles
Lakers for the seventh seed.
The Kings won their second straight road contest Wednesday by
posting a 106-90 triumph at hapless Portland. Brad Miller
scored 24 points and Shareef Abdur-Rahim added 21 off the bench
for Sacramento, which has not won three straight road contests
this season.
Golden State, which has not reached the postseason since the
1993-94 season, is five games off the King's pace, and with only
12 games remaining, likely won't end their drought.
The Warriors have lost their last two contests, the most recent
being Wednesday's heartbreaking home loss to New Orleans. Mike
Dunleavy's follow shot went in for the apparent game-winning
basket as time expired, but the replay showed that it came after
the buzzer and was disallowed.
Dunleavy and Jason Richardson scored 19 points apiece for Golden
State, which shot just 38 percent (30-of-79) from the floor.
