Philadelphia (32-36) at Indiana (34-33) 1:00 pm EST
INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- If the Philadelphia 76ers are unable to
right the ship, they just might sink right out of the playoff
picture.
The 76ers try to maintain their shaky hold on the eighth playoff
spot in the Eastern Conference when they take on the Indiana
Pacers on Sunday.
Philadelphia has lost five of its last six games but still leads
Chicago by 2 1/2 games for the final postseason spot in the
East.
The 76ers' tough stretch included four straight losses without
superstar Allen Iverson. The league's second-leading scorer
returned to spark the team to a 115-106 triumph over Atlanta on
Wednesday, but he shot just 4-of-19 for 17 points in Wednesday's
102-86 defeat to Orlando.
Chris Webber attempted to make up for Iverson's off-night with
23 points and 15 rebounds. Kyle Korver added 18 points for the
Sixers, who shot only 38 percent and were outrebounded, 47-33,
in losing for the eighth time in 10 games.
Indiana's playoff spot is a bit more secure despite losses in
three of its last four games. The Pacers sit in sixth place,
one-half game behind Washington and one game up on Milwaukee.
In Friday's 75-72 setback vs. Detroit, David Harrison scored 14
points and Peja Stojakovic added 12. Playing in his second game
since missing two months with a torn groin, Jermaine O'Neal
managed just eight points on 3-of-9 shooting.
The Pacers had lost five straight meetings with the 76ers prior
to a 94-93 victory on March 5. Anthony Johnson scored 18 points
to lead Indiana, which got the game-winning layup from Stephen
Jackson with 2.9 seconds remaining.
