Parker had 23 points to lead four players in double figures and added eight assists as the San Antonio Spurs won for the fifth time in six games with a 92-77 over the slumping Rockets, who have dropped three in a row.

"They have great point guard play in Parker, obviously," Houston coach Jeff Van Gundy said. "They share (the ball) well, they've got tremendous depth, they're very good defensively, they rebounded well, don't turn it over and have a great coach. They've got every base covered."
Parker drained back-to-back jumpers to help San Antonio open a 58-45 advantage with just under three minutes left in the third quarter.
"Every time we play Houston, we have a hard time scoring," said Parker, who is second in the NBA in field-goal percentage. "In the second half, we made a few outside shots and that opened up opportunities for us. I was able to penetrate a lot more."
Houston closed within seven points at the end of the period, and a jump hook by Juwan Howard opened the fourth quarter and cut the deficit to 60-55 just 11 seconds into the quarter. But the Rockets got no closer.
The defending champions used a 12-4 burst to rebuild their advantage to 13 points over a 2 1/2-minute span as they pulled away for good. Nazr Mohammed and former Rocket Robert Horry combined to score 10 points during the stretch.
"Robert looked like he was fairly interested tonight," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "He was impressive, and he knows he needs to be ready for us by the playoffs."
The Spurs have won five straight meetings with the Rockets.
"For us to beat quality teams like that, we're going to have to be mentally and physically tougher," Van Gundy said. "They've got a great team, and they play well."
"It was a good win for us. Nobody likes back-to-back games, and we were fortunate to get this win," said Popovich, whose team played Phoenix on Friday night. "The Rockets are always tough on us. Most are grind-it-out type games with Houston."
Superstar Tim Duncan registered 14 points and eight rebounds and Horry added 12 points off the bench for San Antonio, which shot 48 percent (37-of-76) and forced 17 turnovers.
"We have to throw a lot of bodies out there on the back-to-backs," said Duncan, who played 36 minutes Friday. "We have to have a lot of people perform. It was absolutely a big win, but this start looked like it was going the wrong way."
Yao Ming collected 20 points and 10 rebounds and Howard scored 18 points for the Rockets, who missed all seven shots from the arc.
"They adjust the game so quick," said Yao, who shot 7-of-14 overall. "We almost custom-made our defense for them. We did a pretty good job in the first quarter, and then they adjusted the screen and the pick-and-roll. When you can't get the ball in the paint, everything is bad. They played the paint very well."
