Phoenix (45-19) at San Antonio (50-14) 8:30 pm EST
SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Spurs will not catch a
break this time around.
The Spurs hope to beat the Phoenix Suns for the second time in
nine days when two of the Western Conference's top teams match
up Friday.
On March 9, San Antonio rolled to a 117-93 victory over Phoenix
as Tony Parker scored 29 points in just 28 minutes. He was the
only All-Star point guard on the floor, however, as Suns
superstar Steve Nash missed the game with a sprained ankle.
The reigning MVP, Nash's absence was felt as the Suns were held
under 100 points for the first time in 23 games, making just
3-of-13 from the arc, as their 11-game winning streak came to an
end.
Phoenix has won three of four since that defeat, with the latest
victory coming Wednesday in a resounding 126-95 rout of the Los
Angeles Clippers.
Nash had 25 points and 12 assists and James Jones and Boris Diaw
added 17 points apiece for the Suns, who connected on 16-of-31
3-pointers.
San Antonio recorded a 96-81 triumph over New Orleans on Tuesday
behind 20 points and 11 assists from Parker. Tim Duncan added
17 points for the Spurs, who are looking to improve to 3-1
against the Suns and win the season series for the third
straight year.
