Memphis (25-16) at Detroit (35-5) 8:00 pm EST
AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- The Detroit Pistons have
dominated most teams over the last few years. The Memphis
Grizzlies are one of the exceptions to the rule.
Shooting for their ninth straight victory, the Pistons take on
the Grizzlies on Friday in an interconference matchup.
Memphis swept the season series from Detroit last season and
took the two-time defending Eastern Conference champions to
double overtime on December 19 before Chauncey Billups' jumper
with under one second remaining provided the difference in
Detroit's 106-104 win.
Detroit continued its most-recent winning streak in a 106-102
overtime triumph over Milwaukee behind another stellar
performance from Billups, who scored all 23 of his points after
halftime.
Richard Hamilton poured in a team-high 35 points and Rasheed
Wallace contributed 20 as the Pistons improved to 35-5, marking
the fourth-best 40-game start in league history.
Memphis has won two of its last three games following an
impressive 107-87 victory against Minnesota on Wednesday.
Pau Gasol snapped out of an offensive slump with 30 points and
eight rebounds and Eddie Jones chipped in 22 for the Grizzlies,
who shot over 50 percent (39-of-77), including a crisp 12-of-22
from the arc.
