Golden State (22-19) at LA Lakers (22-19) 10:30 pm EST
LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- After scoring 81 points in his last
outing, Kobe Bryant deserved four days off.
The league's leading scorer, Bryant plays for the first time
since he posted the second-highest scoring game in league
history when the Los Angeles Lakers face the Golden State
Warriors on Friday.
In 42 minutes, Bryant made 28-of-46 shots from the floor,
including seven 3-pointers, and hit 18-of-20 from the foul line
in last Sunday's 122-104 victory over the Toronto Raptors.
Averaging 45.4 points in 10 games, Bryant's 81-point performance
is second to only Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain, who scored 100
points for the Philadelphia Warriors against the New York Knicks
on March 2, 1962.
Smush Parker scored 13 points and Chris Mihm added 12 for the
Lakers, who are looking for their fifth win in seven games.
Golden State, which has lost three straight, missed its first 16
shots in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's 102-93 loss to the
Dallas Mavericks.
Baron Davis collected 26 points and 10 assists and Troy Murphy
added 22 points and 14 rebounds for the Warriors, who have
dropped eight of 10 overall and have just one win in 12 road
games against the Lakers.
Bryant scored 38 points and Parker added 24 as the Lakers
posted a 110-104 victory over Golden State in their most recent
matchup on January 14.
