Phoenix (17-10) at Charlotte (10-19) 7:30 pm EST
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The Charlotte Bobcats are
playing the best basketball in their brief history.
The Bobcats go for their sixth win in eight games Friday when
they host the Phoenix Suns in an interconference matchup.
A second-year expansion team, Charlotte is coming off a 93-80
triumph vs. Chicago on Wednesday behind 20 points from Melvin
Ely and 17 and 14 rebounds from Primoz Brezec.
However, the Bobcats continue to be snake-bitten by injuries as
point guard Brevin Knight (sprained left ankle) became the
latest player to go down. The team also played without guard
Kareem Rush (finger), rookie forward Sean May (knee) and centers
Emeka Okafor and Jake Voskuhl (ankle).
Phoenix has won three of its last four games behind a
rejuvinated offense that is averaging 107.3 points in those
contests.
In their last game, the Suns recorded a 104-99 victory in
Washington to improve to 2-0 on their five-game road trip.
Shawn Marion had 28 points and reigning MVP Steve Nash collected
19 and 16 assists as Phoenix scored at least 100 points for the
fourth straight game after failing to do so in five of its
previous six contests.
The Suns won both meetings with the Bobcats last season,
including a 120-105 victory here on March 23 behind Marion's 26
points and 10 boards.
