Golden State (15-14) at Dallas (21-7) 8:30 pm EST
DALLAS (Ticker) -- Dirk Nowitzki is the primary reason why the
Dallas Mavericks have the league's third-best record.
Nowitzki looks to lead Mavericks to their seventh win in eight
outings Friday when they face the Golden State Warriors for the
first time this season.
An All-NBA first team selection last season, the 27-year-old
Nowitzki is seventh in the league in scoring (26.4) and has led
Dallas in scoring in 12 of the last 13 games. He also has made
34 consecutive free throws.
Nowitzki scored 23 points and Devin Harris added 20 for the
Mavericks, who won their third consecutive game with Monday's
102-80 win over the Indiana Pacers. Former Warrior Erick
Dampier grabbed a season-high 14 rebounds.
Dallas has reached the century mark in eight of its last nine
outings and has the league's fourth-best average victory margin
(4.7).
Golden State, which is off to its best 29-game start since
1993-1994 despite losing five of its last six games, starts a
three-game road trip.
Derek Fisher scored the go-ahead basket with 6.2 seconds
remaining and Jason Richardson tied a season high with 36 points
as Golden State snapped a five-game losing streak with
Wednesday's 111-109 win over the Boston Celtics.
Dallas has a four-game home winning streak and looks to beat
Golden State for the 13th time in 16 encounters.
