EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Hawks are picking a bad time to run into the scorching New Jersey Nets.

The Nets try to extend their season-high winning streak to eight games Friday when they host the Hawks, who are looking for just their third road win of the season.

New Jersey posted its seventh straight win Tuesday, 96-91, over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Richard Jefferson scored 28 points on 9-of-11 shooting, giving the athletic forward 51 points on a sizzling 17-of-19 shooting in his last two contests.

Vince Carter chipped in 21 points and Jason Kidd 14 and nine assists for the Nets, who have averaged 104 points during their winning streak.

Atlanta dropped to 2-13 on the road with Tuesday's 108-102 setback in Toronto despite Al Harrington's 25 points.

Tyronn Lue scored 21 points and dished out six assists and Joe Johnson added 18 points for the Hawks, who have dropped three of four since a stretch of four wins in five games.

The Nets won all three meetings with the Hawks in the 2004-05 season series.
