Detroit (13-2) at Golden State (12-7) 10:30 pm EST
OAKLAND, California (Ticker) - The Golden State Warriors were
unable to end one winning streak Wednesday, but will have
another chance to do so Thursday when they host the Detroit
Pistons, who have won four in a row.
The Warriors carried a five-game run of their own into
Wednesday's matchup here against the Phoenix Suns, who put
together a big run down the stretch to escape with their eighth
win in a row, a 118-110 triumph.
Playing without leading rebounder Troy Murphy, Golden State was
dominated on the boards, 54-44, and allowed the Suns to grab 16
on the offensive end.
Baron Davis scored 21 of his 28 points in the first half and
Mike Dunleavy Jr. finished with season highs of 21 points and
nine rebounds for the hosts.
Murphy, who is averaging 8.6 boards, was absent with the flu.
Rasheed Wallace scored 26 points and Chauncey Billups added 17
and 11 assists in Detroit's 92-79 win at Chicago on Saturday,
the club's eighth in nine road games this season.
Owners of the best record in the NBA, the Pistons have had
plenty of time to rest before Friday's contest and have won 14
of the last 18 meetings with the Warriors.
