Denver (3-5) at New Orleans (2-4), 8:00 pm EST
OKLAHOMA CITY (Ticker) -- George Karl's second season with
the Denver Nuggets has not started quite like the first one
finished.
Karl and the Nuggets wrap up a quick two-game road trip with
their first visit to the Ford Center and a matchup with the New
Orleans Hornets on Wednesday.
After a two-game suspension to start the season, Karl has
struggled to get his team to play the kind of basketball it did
in going 32-8 under him in 2004-05. Denver is just 2-3 since he
returned after Tuesday's 83-80 loss in Dallas.
Carmelo Anthony scored 24 points, but just two other Nuggets
reached double figures as the club shot 38 percent (32-of-84).
Denver was 0-of-8 from 3-point range and have made just 19 from
the arc all season, tied for second fewest in the league with
the Hornets, who dropped a 109-102 overtime decision in Miami on
Tuesday.
P.J. Brown scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and David
West finished with 16 and 10 for the Hornets, who lost all four
of their meetings with the Nuggets last season.
Despite the setback, the Hornets got another stellar outing out
of rookie Chris Paul. Paul, who scored 16 points and had a
season-high 10 assists, is averaging 15.5 points through his
first six games as a pro.
