Utah (4-4) at Sacramento (2-5), 10:00 pm EST
SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) - The shorthanded Utah Jazz will
try to erase the memory of a dismal offensive performance
Tuesday when they face the Sacramento Kings.
Injuries to forwards Carlos Boozer (hamstring), Andrei Kirilenko
(ankle) and guards Gordan Giricek (tonsillitis) and Keith
McLeod (back spasms) left the Jazz undermanned Monday against
the New York Knicks.
Without many of its top offensive threats, Utah shot a
franchise-worst 29 percent (22-of-75) en route a 73-62 setback
to New York. Rookie Deron Williams was one of the few bright
spots for the Jazz with 18 points in 32 minutes off the bench.
Leading scorer Mehmet Okur was held to just 12 points on 4-of-11
shooting for Utah, which matched the second-lowest output in
team history and helped New York set a franchise record for
points allowed.
Things got so sloppy for the Jazz that near the end of the third
period, owner Larry Miller left his courtside seat to sit at
the end of Utah's bench and was spotted in the team huddle,
although it did not help the Jazz avoid their third loss in four
games.
The Kings also are trying to bounce back from a loss to the
Knicks after dropping a 105-95 decision on Sunday.
Peja Stojakovic scored 31 points and Mike Bibby added 18 for
Sacramento, which committed 21 turnovers and allowed New York to
shoot 54 percent (41-of-76).
Sacramento won two of the three matchups last season, including
the only one in Arco Arena, and has won 14 of the last 17
meetings overall.
