Toronto (0-6) at Philadelphia (4-3), 7:00 pm EST
PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia 76ers hope to extend
their impressive winning streak Tuesday when they host the
winless Toronto Raptors in the front end of a home-and-home set.
The 76ers have won four straight games - all against teams with
a .500 record or better. They have not won five in a row since
a nine-game surge from February 12-March 2, 2003.
On Sunday, Philadelphia posted a 113-108 triumph against Pacific
Division-leading Los Angeles Clippers to move to the top of the
Atlantic Division standings.
Allen Iverson collected 28 points, 10 rebounds and five steals,
though the All-Star guard also had seven turnovers. Lee Nailon
provided a spark off the bench by scoring 21 points after
tallying no more than eight in the Sixers' previous six
contests.
Tied with Atlanta for the worst record in the league, Toronto is
at the bottom of the Atlantic after a dismal start to its
campaign. The team's poor start is even more glaring
considering that all but one of its games have been at home.
Mike James saw his career-best 36-point effort wasted Sunday
when the Raptors dropped a 126-121 overtime contest against
Seattle. Rookie Charlie Villanueva had his best game as a pro
by collecting 26 points and 12 rebounds in a season-high 35
minutes off the bench.
The Sixers won three of the four meetings against the Raptors
last season, including both matchups here.
The teams meet again Wednesday in Toronto.
