LA Clippers (3-1) at Washington (3-0), 7:00 pm EST
WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The last time the Washington Wizards
started a season 4-0, they were known as the Bullets and were
the defending NBA champions.
The Wizards looks to win their first four games for the first
time since 1978-79 on Wednesday when they host the surprising
Los Angeles Clippers.
Coming off a 20-win improvement over the previous season and
their first playoff appearance in eight years, the Wizards have
held their first three opponents to less than 40 percent
shooting from the floor and an average of just 83.3 points.
Gilbert Arenas, who is averaging 26 points, scored 30 and Antawn
Jamison added 23 with 13 rebounds for Washington in Saturday's
87-79 triumph over the Orlando Magic.
The Clippers were the last Western Conference team without a
loss and missed an opportunity to begin a campaign 4-0 for the
first time since 1985-86 on Monday with a 93-78 setback against
the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Elton Brand scored 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds and
Cuttino Mobley added 14 points for the Clippers, who scored just
12 points in the third quarter and allowed Minnesota to shoot
61.8 percent (21-of-34) in the second half.
The Wizards have won five of the last six meetings against the
Clippers and have taken the last four home encounters to hold a
67-25 edge in the all-time series.
