San Antonio (2-0) at Dallas (1-1), 8:30 pm EST
DALLAS (Ticker) -- Michael Finley returns to the American
Airlines Center for the first time as a member of the San
Antonio Spurs on Saturday when the Dallas Mavericks host
the defending champions.
A two-time All-Star, Finley starred with Dallas from 1996-2005
before he was waived under the league's new amnesty clause.
Fourth on the Mavericks' all-time scoring list, Finley signed
with San Antonio with the hopes of winning a championship and
has made an immediate impact.
Finley scored 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting in Dallas'
season-opening win Tuesday against Denver. He had a quiet
game Friday against Cleveland.
Tim Duncan scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Tony
Parker chipped in 18 points and eight assists for San Antonio,
which shot 55 percent (44-of-80) and held the Cavaliers to 34
percent shooting (28-of-82).
Dallas began the season with a double-overtime win at Phoenix on
Wednesday but appeared fatigued in Thursday's 93-82 loss to
Utah. Starting forwards Dirk Nowitzki and Josh Howard combined
to make just 8-of-30 shots and the Mavericks shot under 38
percent (29-of-77) and committed 15 turnovers.
The Spurs won three of four meetings with the Mavericks in
2004-05.
