New Jersey (0-1) at Toronto (0-1), 7:00 pm EST
TORONTO (Ticker) -- Vince Carter and the New Jersey Nets hope to
bounce back from a disappointing season opener when they meet
the Toronto Raptors on Friday.
After jumping out to an early 12-point lead, the Nets were
outscored by 26 points over the final three quarters Wednesday
en route to a 110-96 loss at home to the Milwaukee Bucks.
Carter scored 25 points while Jason Kidd collected 12 points,
eight rebounds and nine assists for New Jersey, which shot a
dismal 22 percent (12-for-54) after the opening 12 minutes.
Carter spent the first six-plus seasons of his career in
Toronto, becoming a perennial All-Star and the player that was
the main identity of the franchise. But after an array of
injuries, Carter became disenchanted and was traded to the Nets
in December for Aaron Williams, Eric Williams, Alonzo Mourning
and two first-round picks.
Carter scored 39 points in an emotional return to the city where
he became a star as the Nets rallied for a critical 101-90
victory over the Raptors last April 15.
Toronto also hopes to rebound from a tough season-opening loss.
Antawn Jamison scored 29 points and netted a crucial basket in
the waning seconds as the Washington Wizards squeaked out a
99-96 victory over the Raptors on Wednesday.
Chris Bosh collected 17 points and 14 rebounds while rookie
Charlie Villanueva scored 11 in his NBA debut.
