SEATTLE (Ticker) -- Dwane Casey will make his return to the
Pacific Northwest when he leads the Minnesota Timberwolves
against the Seattle SuperSonics on Friday.
Casey was an assistant for the SuperSonics for 11 years before
being hired as the Timberwolves coach in the offseason.
Kevin Garnett and Richie Frahm scored 18 points apiece as
Minnesota posted a 90-86 home win over Portland on Wednesday
to make Casey the first coach in franchise history to win
his debut.
Garnett added seven rebounds and a team-high seven assists while
Marko Jaric collected 14 points, six rebounds and five assists
in his debut with the club.
Seattle opened its season Wednesday with a 101-93 loss to the
Los Angeles Clippers in Bob Weiss' first game at the helm. Ray
Allen scored 31 points and Rashard Lewis added 18 in the loss.
The Sonics won three of the four meetings against the
Timberwolves last season, however they split the two meetings
here.
