All-Star center Shaquille O'Neal left the game with a sprained right ankle with 6:35 remaining as the Heat dropped a 105-102 decision to the Indiana Pacers, who got 27 points from Jermaine O'Neal.

"He's probably going to miss some time the way he was walking on it," Miami coach Stan Van Gundy said of his superstar, who did not discuss the injury after the game. "You never want one of your best players to go down with an injury, but it's also a part of the game."
Shaquille O'Neal, who scored 18 points, had to be helped off the court, but X-rays were negative and he day-to-day.
"He's a big guy and anytime he gets injured it's a lot of weight that goes down on it," Heat guard Dwyane Wade said. "We have enough firepower that when one guy goes down the other guys can step up."
"The team has to make adjustments," said Miami center Alonzo Mourning, whose minutes likely will increase as a result of the injury. "This isn't anything new."
With its superstar sidelined, Miami continued its comeback, tying the contest at 93-93 on Wade's free throw with five minutes to play before Indiana went on an 8-2 run, capped by Jermaine O'Neal's jumper with 2:11 left.
After Mourning's dunk and two free throws by Indiana's Stephen Jackson, Wade drained a 3-pointer and Udonis Haslem hit a layup to draw the Heat within 103-102 with 1:09 to play.
"I was heartened by how hard we battled for a team getting to know each other," Van Gundy said. "I thought that was a good sign."
Jermaine O'Neal hit a pair of free throws 19 seconds later to push the lead to 105-102 and Antoine Walker committed a turnover with 29 seconds remaining.
"(Jermaine O'Neal) took big shots and made free throws at the end which was really important," Indiana coach Rick Carlisle said. "He has a lot of weapons, and tonight he did a good job of reading situations."
However, Artest missed a jumper, giving Miami one last chance to tie it, but Wade's desperation shot from behind the arc hit off the backboard and rattled around the basket before bouncing out as time expired.
"The ball went around and played with me and it came out," Wade said. "I got a good look and I got a good shot."
"It's early in the season and we're trying to get some chemistry going just like them," Jermaine O'Neal said. "We know Miami is going to be right there coming down the stretch."
Artest scored all but one of his 22 points in the first three quarters as the Pacers built an 82-71 lead.
"It's a long season and we'll see each other again down the road," Artest said. "We gave them a little opening there and they're a good team and made it a game."
While happy with the win on the road, Carlisle wanted his team to keep everything in perspective.
"One game is one game," Carlisle said. "They're like us in trying to find themselves so you can't put too much into tonight but anytime you win one like that it's nice."
