With Opening Night less than a week away, both teams took long looks at as many players as possible. Coaches Mike Brown of Cleveland and Doc Rivers of Boston used deep reserves in the fourth quarter, which began with the Cavaliers holding a 75-69 lead.

A 3-pointer by rookie Kelenna Azubuike widened the advantage to 96-80 with 5:10 to go before the Celtics stormed back with a press and the play of second-year forward Justin Reed, who scored 19 points.

Green, selected 18th overall directly out of high school in June's draft, missed his first four shots before slithering through the defense and dropping in a difficult shot on the move.

Ricky Davis scored 19 points and Paul Pierce added 17 for the Celtics, who lost prospective starting point guard Delonte West to a left mid-foot sprain in the third quarter. X-rays were negative.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 18 points and LeBron James added 16 for the Cavaliers, who again were without injured rotation regulars Larry Hughes, Drew Gooden and Ira Newble .
