BATON ROUGE, La, Oct. 25 (Ticker) -- J.R. Smith and Bostjan Nachbar shot down the Miami Heat from long range.

Smith and Nachbar sank five 3-pointers each and combined for 44 points as the New Orleans Hornets cruised to a 111-91 preseason victory over the Heat.

Smith was 5-of-10 from the arc and scored 24 points. Nachbar was 5-of-8 from the arc and added 20 for the Hornets, who made 10-of-20 3-pointers.

Smith and Nachbar combined to make 7-of-11 3-pointers in the first quarter, including two apiece during a 14-5 surge that gave the Hornets a 24-11 lead midway through the period. Smith had a four-point play, draining a 3-pointer while drawing a foul from Dorell Wright.

The Hornets held a 66-50 halftime advantage and easily held on as Kirk Snyder scored all 19 of his points in the second half. They shot 50 percent (39-of-78) and held a 53-37 rebounding advantage.

Shaquille O'Neal scored 20 points and roster hopeful Darius Rice added 14 for the Heat, who shot 40 percent (36-of-90), including 8-of-24 from the arc.

Miami forward Antoine Walker scored 11 points before being ejected for arguing in the fourth quarter.
