EUGENE, Ore., Oct. 20 (Ticker) -- Andrei Kirilenko and Mehmet Okur are
enjoying the preseason.
Kirilenko scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Okur
added 11 and 10 as the Utah Jazz rolled to a 92-73 victory over
the Portland Trail Blazers.
The 24-year-old Kirilenko is coming off an injury-riddled
campaign in which he played only 41 games due to a broken left
wrist. However, the All-Star forward appears primed for a
strong season as he posted his second consecutive impressive
outing, making 7-of-12 shots from the field and all five of his
free throws.
Okur also put forth a strong effort, making 4-of-6 shots from
the floor and all three of his foul shots en route to his third
double-digit scoring effort in four preseason games.
Meanwhile, Blazers forward Darius Miles did not enjoy the same
success, missing 15-of-17 shots and committing four turnovers in
only 27 minutes. Portland struggled as a whole, shooting
just 29 percent (20-of-69) and trailing by as many as 33 points.
Portland guard Martell Webster, the sixth overall pick in June's
draft, scored 11 points in 17 minutes off the bench. Utah's
Deron Williams, who was selected three picks earlier, also played
well with 12 points in 20 minutes.
