EL PASO, Texas, Oct. 15 (Ticker) -- Joel Przybilla suffered an early
setback in what the Portland Trail Blazers hope will be a
breakout season.
Przybilla suffered a sprained left ankle in the second quarter
as the Trail Blazers dropped a 112-95 decision to the Denver
Nuggets in a preseason contest.
The 7-1 Przybilla was one of the few bright spots for Portland last season, recording 27 double-digit rebound
performances, including 14 double-doubles despite not reaching
double figures in points or rebounds until January.
Przybilla scored six points and grabbed five rebounds in 11
minutes before landing awkwardly with 4:13 left in the first
half. He is considered day-to-day.
Darius Miles scored 13 points and newcomer Juan Dixon and rookie
Martell Webster scored 12 points apiece for Portland, which
committed 18 turnovers.
Carmelo Anthony had 23 points, six rebounds and four steals in
24 minutes for the Nuggets, who shot 53 percent (42-of-79)
overall and 54 percent (7-of-13) from the arc.
After missing virtually all of last season with an Achilles
injury, Voshon Lenard chipped in 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting.
