CHARLOTTE, N. C., Oct. 13 (Ticker) -- Jason Kidd and
Richard Jefferson scored 10 points apiece as the New Jersey Nets posted
a 95-76 preseason victory over the Charlotte Bobcats.
Kidd made 4-of-5 shots and recorded five rebounds and three
assists while Jefferson was 3-of-4 with five boards for the
Nets, who got at least eight points from eight different
players.
Vince Carter scored six of his eight points in the first
quarter, including a 3-pointer with 10:18 remaining that made it
5-2, giving New Jersey the lead for good.
Making his home debut, rookie Raymond Felton scored 10 points in
19 minutes for the Bobcats, who were without fellow lottery
pick Sean May. May is still recovering from offseason knee
surgery and watched from the bench along with reigning Rookie of
the Year Emeka Okaforand starting center Primoz Brezec.
The Nets played without offseason acquisition Marc Jackson and
Jason Collins.
Antonio Meeking had 14 points and nine rebounds in 23 minutes
for Charlotte, which shot just 31 percent (24-of-78) and was
outscored, 40-22, in the paint.
