DALLAS (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia 76ers have yet to win a
game without Allen Iverson. They hope to have their floor
leader back Saturday when they face Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas
Mavericks.
Iverson, the NBA's leading scorer, missed his second consecutive
game with an injured left shoulder Friday, and the 76ers
dropped a 99-95 decision in overtime to the New Orleans Hornets.
Kyle Korver hit a 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds remaining to force
the extra period, but Philadelphia managed just three baskets in
overtime and lost for the third time in four games.
Willie Green scored 18 points in the loss and has played well in
Iverson's absence, averaging 25 points in the last two games,
but it has not translated into victories for the Sixers, who are
0-4 without Iverson this season.
The Mavericks will be looking to notch their seventh win in
eight contests after a 95-88 triumph over the Portland Trail
Blazers on Wednesday.
Nowitzki had 24 points and 15 rebounds and Michael Finley added
22 points for Dallas, which has won three straight meetings with
Philadelphia.
The Mavs may also be without one of their starters. Forward
Josh Howard has missed the last two games because of back spasms
and is listed as day-to-day.
