SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) -- Vince Carter looks to lead the New
Jersey Nets to their sixth win in eight games Saturday when they
complete a five-game road trip against the Utah Jazz.
Carter had 30 points and nine assists Friday as the Nets
improved to 2-2 on thier Western Conference swing with a 109-103
victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Since arriving in New Jersey, Carter is averaging 23.4 points
and 4.9 assists - nearly eight points and two assists more than
he was producing in Toronto.
Rodney Buford added 18 points and Jason Kidd added 15 and 11
assists for New Jersey, which will be looking to notch its
second three-game winning streak of the season. The Nets
recorded three straight wins before opening their road trip with
consecutive defeats.
Fatigue could be a factor for the Nets, who were forced to play
Friday with only eight players because of injuries to forward
Brian Scalabrine and center Jason Collins.
The Jazz will be looking to bounce back from a tough 93-91 loss
to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.
Andrei Kirilenko had 14 points, nine rebounds and three blocks
in his first start since returning from a knee injury January
22, but Utah could not hold a 16-point second-half lead and lost
for the fifth time in seven games.
