ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- The Dallas Mavericks look to
remain perfect when they travel to Orlando to meet the Magic on
Tuesday at TD Waterhouse Centre.
Dirk Nowitzki scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds Monday as
the Mavericks posted a 101-98 overtime victory over the Golden
State Warriors. The win lifted Dallas to its second 4-0 start
in three seasons.
The Mavericks won their first 14 games two seasons ago.
Nowitzki has been sharp in the early going, hitting 35-of-66 (53
percent) shots from the field and averaging a double-double.
Four more players are averaging at least 11 points a game for an
explosive unit, but defense has been the name of the game
during Dallas' run.
The Mavericks are allowing just 92.3 points per game and have
held opponents under 100 points in all four wins. Last season,
they accomplished that feat only 40 times, posting a 36-4 mark
in such affairs.
After a pair of last-second wins to start the season, the Magic
became the first team to lose to the expansion Charlotte Bobcats
on Saturday, falling 111-100. Cuttino Mobley scored 23 points
but backcourt mate Steve Francis, who had the winning basket in
both wins, struggled to a nine-point, six-turnover night.
Orlando has lost the last three meetings in the series but is
5-1 in the last six at home.
