MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Bucks will try to bounce
back after a difficult defeat in their season opener when they
host the Cleveland Cavaliers in their first home game.
The Bucks lost to the Orlando Magic, 93-92, Wednesday when Steve
Francis scored with two-tenths of a second remaining. Michael
Redd put the Bucks in front at 92-91 when he hit for two of his
19 points with 3.5 seconds left.
The game marked the 20th consecutive year Milwaukee opened the
season on the road. The last Bucks' season-opener at home was
in 1984 against the Chicago Bulls in Michael Jordan's NBA debut.
Cleveland, which got off to a 6-19 start last year, is also
looking for its first win of the season after losing to the
Indiana Pacers and the Miami Heat on consecutive nights.
LeBron James is off to a great start in his second season after
scoring 28 points against Indiana and 21 vs. the Heat. James
also had eight assists in each contest.
Drew Gooden had 24 points and 11 rebounds in Thursday's loss to
Miami. Zydrunas Ilgauskas opened the year by tying his career
high with 35 points against the Pacers, but scored just eight
against the Heat.
The Bucks, who have taken five of the last six home openers,
have won 10 of the last 12 meetings in Milwaukee and hold a
96-59 edge in the series.
