One of three players acquired from the Miami Heat in the Shaquille O'Neal trade, Grant was 10-of-12 from the floor in 24 minutes. He had scored just seven points in 57 minutes through his first four games with Los Angeles.

Chris Mihm scored 15 points and Kobe Bryant chipped in 12, including a runner from the foul line to beat the third-quarter buzzer and stake the Lakers to an 87-73 lead.

Amare Stoudemire scored 24 points for Phoenix, which was done in by Los Angeles' 11-2 run opening the second half.

After the Indiana Pacers fell earlier Sunday night, the Suns were the last team in the league without a loss in exhibition play.
