Vlade Divac and Hedo Turkoglu scored 13 points apiece for the Kings, who squandered a 20-point victory before holding on. Sacramento won six of eight preseason games and opens the regular season against Cleveland on Tuesday.

Kobe Bryant scored 23 points and Derek Fisher added 14 for the Lakers, who played without Shaquille O'Neal and veteran guard Brian Shaw.

Los Angeles hosts the San Antonio Spurs in its season opener on Tuesday.

The Lakers have eliminated the Kings from the playoffs in each of the last three seasons, including the dramatic seven-game Western Conference Finals in June. The bad blood between the teams escalated due to preseason trash-talking and reared its ugly head Friday in the first quarter.

The incident began less than three minutes into the game after Lakers forward Rick Fox elbowed Kings guard Doug Christie while trying to protect the ball. Christie fell to the floor and when he got up, received a shove to the face from Fox.

Christie responded with a punch to Fox's jaw and both players were separated and ejected. The players left the court through separate tunnels, but Fox ran to the Kings' end and confronted Christie.

The two exchanged punches as O'Neal tried to break up the fight. The entire Sacramento bench, including the coaches, poured into the tunnel to aid Christie before order was restored.
