NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 17 (Ticker) -- Jerry Stackhouse scored 20 points and
Kwame Brown added 15 off the bench as the Washington Wizards
ruined the New Orleans Hornets' home debut with an 88-78
preseason triumph.
Stackhouse had 13 points in the first half as the Wizards
bounced back from a 27-13 deficit and took a 48-41 lead to the
locker room. Stackhouse's three-pointer with 2:43 left in the
second quarter put Washington on top for good, 38-35.
Larry Hughes scored 12 points, including four in a 10-2
fourth-quarter run that salted away the win after the Hornets
pulled within 76-71 midway through the period.
David Wesley scored 18 points and Lee Nailon and reserve Kirk
Haston each added 10 for the Hornets, who moved to New Orleans
after 14 seasons in Charlotte.
