HOUSTON, Oct. 15 (Ticker) -- Cuttino Mobley
scored 18 of his 22 points in the second half as the Houston Rockets held on for a 96-93 preseason victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
San Antonio's Bruce Bowen hit a bank shot midway through the third quarter to knot the contest at 60-60. But the Rockets embarked on an 18-9 run and never trailed thereafter.
Making their first preseason appearances for Houston, Glen Rice and Maurice Taylor had 10 points apiece. Both suffered season-ending injuries last year.
The Rockets added to their injury concerns as Moochie Norris left the game in the first with a dislocated right pinky finger.
Fellow guard Steve Francis already did not dress due to tendinitis in his left ankle. Kelvin Cato sat out with a strained left shoulder and fellow center Jason Collier was sidelined with a broken nose.
Tony Parker had 15 points in 17 minutes for the Spurs before sitting out the second half.
The Rockets and the Spurs were contesting the eighth annual "Clutch City Classic," a benefit game dedicated to local charities.
