ATLANTA, April 4 (Ticker) -- The ball found its way into the right hands, but even Reggie Miller couldn't get the Indiana Pacers the win.

Miller missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer with one second left as the Pacers suffered a 95-94 loss to the Atlanta Hawks that dropped them into a tie for the final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference.

The Pacers never led but got within one point several times down the stretch. On their final possession, Miller got the ball for the last shot.

However, the all-time leader in 3-pointers but was forced to take a deep shot from the top of the key over the outstretched arms of the taller Nazr Mohammed. Ira Newble grabbed the rebound and time expired.

Indiana had failed to get the ball to Miller on its previous possession and Austin Croshere's 3-pointer with 31 seconds left was short.

After Jacque Vaughn pulled down the rebound and called a timeout, Jason Terry missed a layup with nine seconds to play, setting the stage for Miller.

Indiana (36-38) has lost six of eight and is tied with the surging Toronto Raptors for eighth place in the East. The Pacers face the Raptors on Sunday and Wednesday.
