The Hornets committed just five turnovers and took advantage of a dozen mistakes by the Milwaukee Bucks to post a 113-110 victory.
Jamal Mashburn had 31 points, 10 rebounds and four steals and Elden Campbell had 20 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots for the Hornets, who moved within a game of Indiana for the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference. Charlotte also closed within 3 1/2 games of the Bucks, who currently occupy the fourth spot in the conference.
The Hornets trailed 107-102 with 3:03 left but Mashburn buried a 16-footer 17 seconds later and Campbell had a dunk with 1:50 remaining to slice the deficit to a point. After Campbell blocked a layup attempt by Ray Allen with 48 seconds to go, David Wesley buried a 3-pointer 20 seconds later to give Charlotte the lead for good.

"We really executed well tonight," Hornets coach Paul Silas said. "I don't think we took a bad shot down the stretch. ... Now we have to go from here."
"We had some great looks at the basket coming down the stretch," Bucks coach George Karl said. "We had a chance to win the game."
Cassell had 27 points and Allen 23 for the Bucks, who have lost four of five.
In addition to playing near error-free ball, Charlotte turned Milwaukee's 12 turnovers into 24 points. The Hornets also held a 46-36 rebounding edge, including 21-5 on the offensive end.
"We gave up a lot of points off turnovers, offensive rebounds and free throws," Karl said. "I think 75 points off those three things. But we overcame that and still had a chance to win. I can't complain about my team."
"We gave this game away -- without taking away anything from Charlotte," Cassell said. "Offensive rebounds gave them second and third shots and they made most of them. They did what they had to do to get the win."
The Hornets closed within one game of Indiana -- their opponent Wednesday -- for the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference. They also moved two games ahead of ninth-place Miami and remained 2 1/2 games in front of Washington.
"We're going to play against teams we're fighting against for the playoffs," Silas said. "We're putting things together at the right time."
"We are not that many games in front of Miami and not that many games behind Philadelphia and Indiana," Hornets guard Baron Davis said. "So we have a golden opportunity to make up some ground. The East is wide open. With 16 or 17 games left in the season, it is a battle, a really big battle."
Cassell had 14 points in the opening quarter as Milwaukee led 31-27 after 12 minutes. The Bucks pushed the lead to 14 late in the second quarter and took a 61-55 lead into halftime.
Milwaukee shot 63 percent (24-of-38) in the opening half while Charlotte shot 28 percent (20-of-53). But the Hornets opened the second half on a 10-2 run and took a 65-63 led on a layup by P.J. Brown with 9:30 left in the third quarter.
Charlotte led 91-86 entering the fourth quarter but Milwaukee opened the final period on a 12-1 run.
