MIAMI, Feb. 24 (Ticker) -- Jimmy Jackson had eight of his 10 points in the final quarter and Alonzo Mourning finished with 11 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks as the Miami Heat rallied for a 92-80 triumph over the Washington Wizards.

Rod Strickland scored 16 points, Eddie Jones 15 and Brian Grant 14 for the Heat, who split the four-game season series with the Wizards after dropping the opening two meetings between the teams.

On Saturday, Grant beat Washington with a jumper with two seconds left.

"Last night and tonight are probably two of the best fourth quarters we have had all year," Heat coach Pat Riley said. "Last night we played extremely well offensively on the road. Tonight I thought defensively in the fourth quarter, we were really on top of it with five guys moving, making the plays that we have to make. We got a great win."

Michael Jordan was held to nine points on 4-of-13 shooting and managed just one shot in three minutes in the fourth quarter, when the Wizards shot just 6-of-18 and were outscored 27-13.

"Michael before the game had his knee drained for at least the fourth time season," Wizards coach Doug Collins said. "I did not want him to play, but he wanted to play and his knee just got sore. I took him out and he said he just couldn't go anymore."

"He looks like he was ailing a little bit tonight," Riley said. "Everybody is going to have injuries. He is not indestructable. He probably needs a little rest. I think he has been absolutely remarkable in the fact he has played all season and missed only a few games."

The 39-year-old Jordan likely is wearing down and hinted that a trip to the injured list is a possibility.

"That could be a strong possibility," Jordan said of a five-game stint on the injured list. "It affects my mobility. It kind of stiffened up on me. I probably need to let it really heal."

"I think this is more an arthritic condition and it happens more frequently now because of all the activity that he is doing," Collins said. "Michael is out there trying to compete on one leg today and I can see it."

Tyronn Lue had 21 points in 28 minutes off the bench for Washington, which has lost seven of eight.

The win moved Miami within 3 1/2 games of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Washington, Charlotte and Indiana are tied for the last postseason berth.

"Three games back, it's the closest we've been since the begining of the season," Riley said.

"The best way to do it is to continue to keep the same attitude that we have been keeping," Mourning said. "Staying humble but hungry, not looking past anybody, taking it one game at a time."

Washington took a 67-65 lead into the fourth quarter and was up five points 76 seconds into the period. But Miami rallied and knotted the contest, 74-74, on an 11-footer by Mourning with 8:49 to play.

Jackson had baskets 90 seconds apart to give Miami a 78-74 lead and, after Lue sank a 14-footer, Jones converted a pair of shots from the line with 5:19 left. With his team up 80-76, Jackson grabbed a rebound and scored to give the Heat some breathing room.

The teams traded baskets before Miami seized an 88-78 edge on on baskets by Mourning 52 seconds apart.

"They were able to catch up and beat us in the second half tonight and last night," Wizards forward Christian Laettner said. "They've had our number the last two nights. You have to give them credit. They fought back after being down and won the game."

Laettner had 10 of his 15 points in the opening quarter, when Washington bolted to a 25-21 lead. The Wizards extended their lead to 51-46 at the half but Miami opened the second half with five straight points to draw even.

"At halftime, I got with the guys in the huddle and I was like, `Look we have to bring it,'" Mourning said. "They played last night. We played last night. There is no excuse for them to outwork us this evening, especially on our home court."
