EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ, Jan. 31 (Ticker) -- Kerry Kittles cooled off after a hot start, but Jason Kidd just kept getting better.

After Kittles scored 20 of his 21 points in a blistering first quarter, Kidd dominated the second half and recorded his fourth triple-double of the season with 21 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds as the New Jersey Nets routed the Milwaukee Bucks, 125-100.

Kittles made 8-of-9 shots in the first quarter as the Nets jumped out to a 43-26 lead. But New Jersey was just 5-of-21 in the second quarter and found itself clinging to a 57-54 halftime lead.

"We came out with energy and executed the game plan," Kidd said. "This is a game of runs. We had a great run in the first quarter, they had a great run in the second quarter. That's a talented team, we knew the game wasn't over."

Kidd, who scored just three points on 1-of-3 shooting in the opening half, sank 4-of-5 shots and scored 11 points in the third quarter. Rookie Richard Jefferson scored seven of his season-high 21 points in the period as New Jersey took a 93-86 lead into the fourth.

The Nets scored 13 of the first 14 points in the final quarter. Kidd had a 3-pointer and a layup during the spurt, which gave New Jersey a 106-87 cushion after Lucious Harris' layup with 9:08 to go.

Kidd controlled the final quarter, collecting seven points and eight assists en route to his 42nd career triple-double, which tied Fat Lever for fifth all time.

"I don't have to score, I do what the team needs," he said. "I don't say `I have to go for triple-double for us to win.' That's when things go bad. I take what the game gives me. Some nights it's good, some nights it's not."

Todd MacCulloch had 20 points and 11 rebounds and Kenyon Martin scored 14 points for the Nets, who shot 54 percent (47-of-87) and posted their highest point total of the season.

The Nets' previous season high was 117 and they had not scored more than 114 in a regulation game this season.

New Jersey extended its home winning streak to six games and snapped a six-game slide in the series, defeating Milwaukee for the first time since March 18, 2000.

"This is another classic example of a team that's had our number for the past year and a half," Nets coach Byron Scott said. "For us to come out and play the way we played tonight, that sends a statement."

"We ran into a (heck) of a basketball team tonight," Bucks coach George Karl said. "We fought hard and I thought we were fortunate to stay in the game until the third quarter. They were playing at an incredibly good level."

Robinson scored 23 points off the bench and Sam Cassell (also off the bench) added 19 for the Bucks, who have lost four of their last five games and had a five-game road winning streak snapped.

Ray Allen scored 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting and Anthony Mason chipped in 13. Tim Thomas and Michael Redd added 11 points each.

Milwaukee shot just 42 percent (32-of-76) from the floor and committed 23 turnovers leading to 38 points for New Jersey.

The Nets scored 12 points off eight Bucks' turnovers in the first quarter. Milwaukee had its only lead, 3-2, after Allen's 3-pointer 55 seconds into the game.

The Nets had a 10-7 lead 2:18 later before going on a 33-15 run. Kittles scored 16 points during the blitz, capping it with a dunk to give New Jersey a 43-22 cushion with 51 seconds to go.

"(Kittles) was huge, big time," Kidd said. "That's the way this team is, anybody can go off at any given time. Kerry came out and gave us the spark that we needed, but we picked it up for him in the second half. That's why this team is all about. No matter who is putting the ball in the basket, we all play hard and enjoy each other."

The Bucks scored the final four points of the opening quarter and opened the second on a 24-8 run. Cassell sank a jumper and two free throws to close the spurt, bringing Milwaukee within 51-50 with 2:47 left.
