DALLAS, Jan. 29 (Ticker) -- Hours after being left off the All-Star team, Elton Brand put a hurt on one of the men who snubbed him.

Brand collected 23 points and 10 rebounds as the Los Angeles Clippers posted their most impressive road win of the season, a 117-100 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.

After two seasons with the lowly Chicago Bulls, the top pick in the 1999 draft was dealt to Los Angeles, where he has helped lift to Clippers into playoff contention.

Brand leads the Clippers in scoring and rebounding and is second in the Western Conference behind San Antonio's Tim Duncan with 31 double-doubles. But those credentials were not enough to convince Western Conference coaches, including Don Nelson of the Mavericks, who bypassed Brand for his first All-Star selection.

Brand downplayed the snub, instead focusing on a big win that improved the Clippers' road record to 4-19.

"It definitely would have been an honor, but it didn't happen this year," he said. "It feels great (to win), especially after losing in overtime to Memphis on a back-to-back night. We really came out and played well. It's a great victory for us because Dallas is such a great team."

Three nights after suffering a fourth-quarter collapse in a 133-112 home loss to Dallas, Los Angeles turned the tide by outscoring the Mavs, 21-7, over the final 7:53.

"He was an outstanding player tonight," Nelson said of Brand. "We had a tough time with him all game. Down the stretch, when we needed to get some stops, he took over. That forced us into our zone, but our zone wasn't successful tonight. I give them credit for making some adjustments, and they made some shots."

Los Angeles led 104-100 with 3:58 to go before closing out the Mavs with a 13-0 run. Jeff McInnis scored six of his season-high 31 points during the run and Darius Miles got the last five.

McInnis shot 12-of-21, including 5-of-6 from the arc. The Clippers connected at 52 percent (43-of-82), making 10-of-18 3-pointers.

The Clippers trailed by as many as nine points but climbed within 52-49 at halftime.

"I had a tough assignment with Steve Nash," McInnis said. "He was just named an All-Star and he deserves it. It was a great matchup. It's something I've been working on all season long, and tonight it started paying off for us."

McInnis also felt that preventing the Mavs from maintaining a double-digit lead was a key to the victory.

"That was real important," he said. "They are a team that shoots so good that if they hit two or three shots, you are down 15. Then you are down 25, like we saw in the last game."

"It was a great win," Los Angeles coach Alvin Gentry added. "By their record, they are the best team in the NBA. It was a great win for us, considering what happened last night in the Memphis game. I think we're growing as a team. We're getting a little better."

All-Stars Dirk Nowitzki and Nash paced Dallas with 22 points apiece. But Nash was held scoreless in the fourth quarter, when the Mavs shot just 29 percent (7-of-24).

"There's no question, they played well against us," Nowitzki said. "They came after us. They were aggressive and made a lot of big plays, especially on the offensive end. They were on fire.

"It wasn't the best game we've played, so it's going to happen. We're not going to be undefeated for the rest of the year."

Dallas, which had won 20 of 23 to claim the league's best record, welcomed back forward Michael Finley. But he was not enough as the Mavs failed to duplicate Saturday's 58 percent shooting effort.

Finley missed 11 games with a strained hamstring and had 14 points in 29 minutes. But he sat much of the fourth quarter.

"I thought Michael was fine," Nelson said. "For a first game, he did the best that he could. We saw some flashes there that will get better. I didn't want to overplay him. He was fine. We'll make some adjustments as we go."
