Bryon Russell scored a season-high 20 points to lead a balanced attack as the hot-shooting Utah Jazz snapped a three-game losing streak and cooled off the Heat with a 101-89 victory.
Miami had not allowed 100 points in its last eight games, winning seven. But that was with Mourning, a member of two NBA All-Defensive teams. Without him, the Heat allowed the Jazz to shoot 71 percent (10-of-14) from the field in the first quarter en route to a wire-to-wire win.

Karl Malone added 19 points and rookie Jarron Collins had 18 for Utah, which used just eight players but raced to a 7-0 lead and never looked back.
"We got off to a good start and set the tempo and set the tone early," said Collins, who made 12-of-13 free throws. "I was able to contribute to my teammates offensively and defensively. The 15-foot jump shot was there for me tonight and they were backing off of me."
Rod Strickland had 16 points and five assists to lead Miami and Eddie Jones and Grant scored 12 points apiece. Grant, LaPhonso Ellis and Vladimir Stepania all fouled out for the Heat, who could not avenge an embarrassing 95-56 home loss on December 18.
"I had my best players on the bench in foul trouble," Riley said. "I had Eddie Jones on the bench in the first half in foul trouble. He can't play. I had Brian Grant, he's in foul trouble. We had LaPhonso Ellis in foul trouble. We were lucky to be in the game. I thought it was a ridiculous game."
Russell, who scored 19 points against Boston on December 26, drilled a 14-foot jumper from the right side 30 seconds into the game to put Utah ahead for good.
Rookie Andrei Kirilenko followed a basket by John Stockton with a three-point play for a 7-0 lead.
A layup by Jim Jackson got the Heat within 13-10 with 7:22 to go in the first quarter, but Russell made a free throw and DeShawn Stevenson scored to restore Utah's seven-point cushion. A 3-pointer by Scott Padgett closed the period and gave the Jazz a 31-23 cushion.
"I think it all started with the guys starting the game," said Padgett, who had 10 points off the bench. "They got out there, they executed, they got some stops, got a nice run to start off the game. Those guys got us going and it carried over to everyone else."
A 3-pointer by Eddie House lifted Miami within 35-31 just under two minutes into the second quarter, but the Jazz answered with a 13-0 run. Padgett and Russell nailed back-to-back 3-pointers and Russell hit another from behind the arc for a 48-31 lead with 6:16 to go before halftime.
Jones had 10 points in the third quarter as Miami sliced the margin to 78-69. Twice in the final period, the Heat closed within five points, the last time at 86-81 on a long jumper by House with 6:46 remaining. But they made just one basket over the next three minutes as Utah opened some breathing room.
Miami shot just 41 percent (33-of-80) but had a 37-22 rebounding advantage, including a whopping 17-3 edge on the offensive glass.
"One thing that really concerns me is the fact that we gave up 17 offensive rebounds and we had three," Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said. "That is the thing that is a huge concern because there is a place for you to make a living out there if you go after basketballs. They won't come to you."
