Francis scored four of his 30 points in overtime and collected eight assists and eight rebounds as the Rockets snapped a four-game losing streak with a 111-104 victory over the Charlotte Hornets.
On Saturday, Francis was announced as the starting point guard for the Western Conference in the All-Star Game. He was chosen despite missing 19 games due to a foot injury and migraine headaches but displayed the ability that earned the attention of the fans.
"Stevie Francis has been playing great," Rockets coach Rudy Tomjanovich said. "Going to the All-Star Game is a big honor and he's pumped up. He's a multi-purpose guard that does so many things for us. I'm very happy for him and he backed it up with a big game."

Cuttino Mobley, who scored 27 points and nailed a jumper in the closing seconds to force the extra session, sealed the win with a pair of free throws.
"(Mobley and Francis) score a lot of points for us and generate a lot of offense," Tomjanovich said. "We've been in games like this and I think we've had 18 losses with six points or less. It's good to win once in a while and smile."
Kelvin Cato had 13 points and 15 rebounds and rookie Eddie Griffin added 16 and nine for the Rockets, who are 7-10 since a season-high 15-game losing streak ended on December 22.
Charlotte's Baron Davis had 34 points and 11 assists but was held scoreless in overtime. Lee Nailon scored 22 points and Jamaal Magloire added 12 and 11 rebounds as the Hornets lost for the fourth time in six games.
Charlotte shot 48 percent (40-of-84) and made 8-of-15 3-pointers but made only 16-of-23 free throws compared to Houston, which sank 26-of-30 from the line.
The Rockets had their largest lead, 61-51, after a pair of free throws by Griffin with 8:59 left in the third quarter. They had a 73-64 advantage after Francis' 3-pointer with 3:24 to go, but the Hornets closed the period on a 13-4 run.
Davis started the burst with a 3-pointer and nailed another with four seconds left in the third to forge a 77-77 tie.
Davis scored 10 points in the first 7:04 of the fourth quarter and his three-point play with 4:56 to go gave Charlotte a 93-87 lead.
Houston trailed, 94-88, before reeling off six straight points to tie it. Mobley sank a jumper during the spurt and capped it with a pair of free throws to make it 94-94 with 2:08 left.
Neither team scored until Davis buried a jumper with 5.8 seconds to play. But Mobley beat Davis on the next play, using a pump fake to get him in the air before nailing the game-tying shot with less than a second left.
"You know they're going to fly at you so give them a little pump fake, get them in the air, then go at them," Mobley said. "I gathered myself. Having those types situations, you learn more from them."
"We couldn't get those late stops and that really hurt us," Davis said. "In overtime we couldn't get any rebounds and that's what ultimately caused us to lose the game."
