Jermaine O'Neal added 18 points and 17 rebounds for the Pacers, who played their first game without forward Al Harrington, who tore the ACL in his right knee in the team's 98-94 loss at Boston on Wednesday.
"You can't really make up for Al," Indiana coach Isiah Thomas said. "Each player has to play within himself and do the best he can but we don't have a guy in the locker room who can bring to the table what Al brought."
Jonathan Bender added 17 points and eight rebounds and Jamaal Tinsley 11, five and six assists for the Pacers.

"Jonathan creates a mismatch for power forwards or forwards out on the perimeter with his speed, ability to shoot the ball and the way he can put it on the floor," Thomas said. "Once he gets comfortable, learns the game and keeps the serious mental approach he has, the sky is the limit for him."
The Pacers led by as many as 18 points in the second quarter but had their lead whittled to 68-61 early in the fourth quarter. Austin Croshere hit two free throws with 9:44 left to spark a 16-6 run over the next five minutes that included two 3-pointers and 10 straight points from Rose.
"I just tried to pull up and throw those 3-pointers in when we needed it," Rose said. "We stayed focused. My teammates did a good job of getting me the ball and helping me to get open."
Charlotte repsonded with an 11-0 run that was capped by a dunk by Jamaal Magloire with 1:38 left to get within 84-78, but the Hornets could get no closer.
David Wesley paced Charlotte with 20 points. Magloire added 19 and a career-high 16 rebounds for the 20-22 Hornets, who had a two-game winning streak snapped and were unsuccessful for the fifth time in trying to get back to .500 since they were 11-11 on December 13.
"For some reason tonight, we did not trust each other on defense," Welsey said. "You had guys like Jonathan Bender attacking the basket and there was basically no one there because no one helped on the weak side. That's disappointing because we have not been playing like that."
Indiana led at halftime by 53-42 after shooting 49 percent (20-of-41) and limiting Charlotte to 38 percent (16-of-42).
"I think our defense was just not up to snuff in the first half," Charlotte coach Paul Silas said. "They got too many layups and dunks. The first half was probably one of the worst halves we've had defensively. We just didn't click tonight."
The Hornets finished at 32 percent (29-of-91) from the field, the lowest by an Indiana opponent this season. Baron Davis had an abysmal night, sinking just 4-of-18, and made 1-of-8 3-pointers to extend his league-leading streak of making at least one shot from the arc to 45 contests.
"I let the refs get to me early in the ballgame," Davis said. "It was a situation where I sat there and argued with the ref. I was just not concentrating. I'll take the blame for this game tonight. I just did not bring it. Overall, I did not bring it and as a point guard for this team I cannot do that."
"I told Baron Davis after the game, don't lose focus because that's what happened tonight," Silas said. "Tomorrow (at home against Houston) is a must-win. It's not frustration, it's just where we are right now. We are playing hard -- we just haven't put the pieces together."
