PORTLAND, Ore, Jan. 24 (Ticker) -- This is what Bob Whitsitt had in mind when he put together this season's version of the Portland Trail Blazers.

With all 12 players playing at least 12 minutes, none playing more than 27 and each one scoring, the Trail Blazers destroyed the Memphis Grizzlies, 120-82, for their ninth win in 11 games.

The Trail Blazers began the season with six new players and new coach Maurice Cheeks. They dealt with some injuries and issues of chemistry as they sputtered to a 13-18 start capped by a six-game losing streak, their longest in six years.

Cheeks and the team were feeling the heat but so was Whitsitt, the president who appeared to have concocted a combustible group that could not play together.

None of that was in evidence Thursday, when the Blazers never trailed and posted season highs in points and victory margin. They shot 56 percent (48-of-86) from the field, including 6-of-9 3-pointers, and made 18-of-21 free throws.

"I knew we had a talented group," Cheeks said. "I didn't know when it would all come together because obviously we haven't had everybody together for a while."

Rasheed Wallace scored 20 points in 18 minutes. Derek Anderson added 19 points in 20 minutes and fellow reserve Shawn Kemp had a season-high 16 in 20.

"We're playing like we're supposed to," Anderson said. "It's good to see the starters playing together. It felt great. I think right now everyone is starting to believe in one another."

"They are very active right now," Grizzlies coach Sidney Lowe said. "They are playing with a lot of confidence. I think Mo has gotten them to realize their potential and how good they can be. They are playing unselfish. If this team plays unselfish, they can beat anyone."

Brevin Knight scored 22 points for the Grizzlies, who have lost six in a row. Memphis has lost games this season by 38, 39 and 42 points.

Wallace scored 11 points and Damon Stoudamire added nine of his 16 as the Blazers raced to a 27-16 lead after one period. Knight's jumper made it 30-20 with 10:33 left in the second quarter before the Grizzlies went nearly seven minutes without scoring and were overwhelmed by a 22-0 run.

Ruben Patterson scored six of his nine points in the surge and a driving layup by Kemp made it 52-20 with 3:59 left in the first half.

"I think this is about as cocky as we've been dating back to the middle of last year," Stoudamire said. "We just have to keep it up, keep on moving forward."

Portland led 58-27 at halftime. A free throw by Rodney Buford opened the second half but the Grizzlies got no closer than 30 points thereafter as the Blazers went on an 18-4 spree. Wallace scored nine points before a jumper by Dale Davis made it 76-32 with 6:11 left.

"They posted us up whenever they wanted to and took us inside," Lowe said.

Memphis trailed 95-50 after three quarters and by as many as 47 points in the final period.

Portland rookie Zach Randolph scored a season-high 14 points. Even the offensively challenged Chris Dudley got into the act with 10 points.

"It was a case of we made shots and they didn't make shots," Cheeks said. "Everything we executed seemed to work."

Rookie Pau Gasol scored 18 points for the Grizzlies, who shot 42 percent (35-of-83) and were outrebounded, 47-30.
