LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Charlotte Hornets seek their eighth straight victory over the Los Angeles Clippers when they clash at the Staples Center on Sunday.
Charlotte, which has won its last two games overall, has not lost to Los Angeles since a road defeat on December 3, 1996, when the Clippers played at the L.A. Sports Arena.
The Hornets defeated the Golden State Warriors on Friday, 106-89. David Wesley scored a season-high 25 points and Baron Davis had 20 and a career-high tying 14 assists as Charlotte improved to 2-2 on its season-high six-game road swing. They combined for 40 points and 12 assists in Thursday's 95-89 triumph over the Portland Trail Blazers.
Charlotte played again without Jamal Mashburn, who was placed on the injured list with an abdominal strain on November 19 and the Hornets had lost five of seven games before coming out to the West Coast.
Wesley connected on a season-high 10 baskets and moved ahead of Alonzo Mourning for fifth place on the franchise scoring list with 4,571 points.
The Clippers fell to the Utah Jazz, 102-86, on Friday. Los Angeles made just one basket in the first six minutes of the fourth quarter and just 4-of-18 shots in the final 12 minutes.
Los Angeles also shot 41 percent (32-of-77) but made only 21-of-35 free throws on its home floor.
Elton Brand had 25 points and 10 rebounds and Lamar Odom added 15, nine and seven assists for the Clippers, who played without guard Eric Piatkowski due to a strained right hip.
Corey Maggette and Jeff McInnis scored 14 points apiece but combined for seven of the team's 20 turnovers and made 12-of-30 shots.
