SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 26 (AP) -- Steve Francis
had 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Houston Rockets to a 91-85 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night in the final preseason game for both teams.
Guard Cuttino Mobley
had 19 points, while Kevin Willis
added 16 for the Rockets (5-3), who open the regular season Tuesday against the Atlanta Hawks.
San Antonio was led by Tim Duncan who had 20 points and nine rebounds. Antonio Daniels and Malik Rose each had 17.
Rose had eight points in the second quarter to give the Spurs a 48-46 lead at halftime.
The Rockets took a seven-point lead in the third when they went on a 9-0 run, capped by Eddie Griffin's layup with 4:16 left. But the Spurs rallied back, and a dunk by Duncan with 4 seconds to go gave the Spurs a 70-68 lead.
The Rockets went on a 14-5 run in the fourth and finally took the lead with 2:43 left on two free throws by Willis.
San Antonio (5-3) opens the regular season Tuesday against the Los Angeles Clippers.
