BOSTON, Oct. 10 (AP) -- Antoine Walker
scored 19 points and Paul Pierce
added 18 to lead the Boston Celtics to a 80-72 exhibition victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night.
Charlotte cut Boston's lead to 70-67 on Derrick Coleman
's 3-pointer with 5:34 left in the game, but Pierce answered with a pair of baskets to put the game out of reach.
The Celtics led 41-29 at halftime, but Charlotte went on a 17-2 run after the break to take a 46-43 advantage.
and Lee Nailon
led the Hornets with 14 points, and Baron Davis
added 13. Milt Palacio
scored in 12 points for Boston.
Charlotte's Jamal Mashburn
did not play for the second straight game because of a sore left hamstring. Celtics point guard Randy Brown
missed the game because of a groin strain.
