MOBILE, Ala., Oct. 9 (AP) -- DerMarr Johnson tipped in a shot with a second remaining as the Atlanta Hawks beat the Indiana Pacers 97-95 in an exhibition game in the Mobile Civic Center on Tuesday night.

Ira Newble's shot from the right corner bounced off the rim and set up the winning basket. Shareef Abdur-Rahim, traded from the Grizzlies to Atlanta during the offseason, had 19 points and eight rebounds in his debut with the Hawks. Dion Glover scored 12 points and Nazr Mohammed 10 for Atlanta. Jermaine O'Neal shot 9-for-13 from the line and led the Pacers with 19 points. Atlanta built an 11-point lead in the second quarter. Indiana scored 11 straight points in the third and outscored the Hawks 23-15 in the period, erasing its deficit and taking a 78-76 lead heading into the final quarter.
