Formé à l’INSEP tout comme ses amis Tony Parker et Jérôme Moïso, Boris Diaw a effectué toute sa carrière professionnelle européenne à Pau-Orthez. Il a remporté le Championnat de France 2001 ainsi que la Coupe de France en 2002 et 2003. Il a été élu MVP du Championnat de France en 2003 et a été Champion d’Europe Junior avec l’équipe de France en 2000. Il fut le leader de l’équipe de France version 2004, brillante lors des qualifications pour l’Euro 2005.

Choisi en 21ème position de la Draft NBA 2003 par les Atlanta Hawks, Boris Diaw a rapidement intégré leur cinq majeur lors de sa saison de rookie. Il a disputé jusqu’à présent 142 rencontres, enregistrant une moyenne de 4.6 points, 3.6 rebonds et 2.3 passes décisives par match.
