June 6, 2004 (Los Angeles): Prior to the start of Game 1 of The Finals, NBA legends Robert Parish and Clyde Drexler shared their thoughts with NBA.com and responded to fan questions from The Finals Blog.

Here's what The Chief and The Glide had to say from STAPLES Center:

Q: Since you played with both teams, between Larry's Celtics and MJ's Bulls, which team would win in a seven-game series and why? (Fahmid, Rochester, N.Y.)

Parish: "I think the Celtics would win, especially the '85-'86 team because of the talent and the depth. Michael Jordan basically had two, maybe three, players he could depend on night in and night out, while we had like five or six guys, including our bench. I think the bench would be the difference in that series."

Q: Out of Larry, MJ and Magic's spectacular performances stand out in your mind as the best ones? (David, La Grange, Ill.)

Parish: "With Magic, I would have to say his Finals performance in his rookie year when they won the championship and he played all five positions. Especially for a young rookie to come into the league and be that poised. With Michael, I'd have to say his playoff performance against us when he dropped 63. I thought that was an incredible performance by an individual. And with Larry, there was one year we were playing in New Orleans against the Atlanta Hawks, and he dropped 63 on them in the regular season. That was one of the most impressive performances I've ever seen. Everything he threw up went in. It was one of those nights where he was truly in the zone. Over his head, with his back to the basket; everything he threw up went in."

Q: What was your brightest and least favorite Finals memory? (Greg, Baltimore)

Parish: "The brightest would have to be that first championship. You can never duplicate that feeling. And everything came together; the dedication, the hard work and the expectations. It was the ultimate compliment to a fine season. The lows had to be getting to The Finals and not winning. We got to The Finals five times and only won it three times, so the two losses were the lows."

Q: Do you still carry any hard feelings towards the Lakers? (Jake, Los Angeles)

Parish: "None whatsoever. No hard feelings. My playing days are behind me, so I've buried the hatchet. I wish the Lakers the very best."

Q: What are your Finals predictions? (Edward, Richmond, Va.)

Parish: "Lakers in seven and Shaq will be the MVP."

Q: What are the X-factors in the series? (Chris, Ky.)

Drexler: "The X-factors are going to be Elden Campbell, Corliss Williamson and Chauncey Billups for the Pistons. For the Lakers, Kareem Rush, Karl Malone and Gary Payton. If those guys produce for the Lakers, it's going to be a very easy series for them, because Kobe and Shaq are the two best players in the league. If they get any help, it could be really easy. But if they don't, and the guys from the Pistons step it up, I think the Pistons could actually upset the Lakers. Campbell's defense on Shaq is big, because if you double-team with a bigger guy, it's going to present problems for the Lakers."

Q: If the Lakers do win it all, do you think they'll remain intact? (Walt, Hawaii)

Drexler: "Somehow things always come together at the right time for the Lakers. It's like a soap opera, and this is Hollywood after all. But they're a uniquely talented team, and as long as they have Shaq and Kobe, they're going to be in good shape."

Q: Are you still in touch with Hakeem? Do you think he'll accept a new role as coach or GM in the NBA? (Emir, Sarajevo)

Drexler: "I don't know what Hakeem's plans are, but I know that whatever he does he'll be very good and very dedicated at whatever he decides to do. I think you need a four, five or six year break to get away from the game and let it come back to you, so that that hunger and that drive to compete resurfaces on another level. And I think he'll come back in a couple of years. He lives in the country of Jordan, he has a place in Houston, and he's been in other places as well. He's just been enjoying his life, raising children, hanging out with his wife and family, and just doing exactly what he should be doing."

Q: Do you hold any grudge against the Pistons from when they beat you in the '90 Finals? (Jake, Los Angeles)

Drexler: "No, I like the Pistons. Joe Dumars is a good friend of mine, and I always root for my friends. At the same time, Rasheed Wallace is an ex-Blazer, and I'm hoping he does well. But for the most part, this is a series where most people think the Lakers are going to run away with it. I don't think it's going to be quite that easy, but I do think they'll win in the end."

Q: What are your Finals predictions? (Gerald, S.C.)

Drexler: "My prediction, which is just a prediction, is the Lakers in six games and the MVP will be Shaquille O'Neal."
