NBA Sets Playoff Attendance Record
NEW YORK, June 13 -- With a confirmed sellout crowd of 20,444 in Philadelphia for Wednesday night's NBA Finals game, the NBA will set an all-time attendance record this year for playoff games, it was announced.
Following Wednesday night's game, a total of 1,438,744 people will have attended playoff games this year, breaking the previous record set last year by 12,238. In addition, the record will be broken in just 70 games, as compared to the 75 games it took to reach the previous high in 2000.
NBA Playoffs 2001 games are averaging 20,553 fans a game, an all-time record high and an increase of 7.8 percent over last season.
